I know its pretty straight forward to just have a library on an external drive for a desktop, but is it possible to do with a MacBook that you unplug on a regular basis?

I use my macbook with an external display as a desktop computer 95% of the day, but do like to use it portably in the evening. If I eject the drive, I'm pretty sure all the tracks will say "local file" error, right?

Is there any trick to have Music automatically default to the stream if no file exists and go back to playing the file when it does?

I have a similar question. Is it possible to keep my locally-stored music library on an external drive, and then just stream the tracks if the drive is not connected?
