Brief description of set-up: iMac (2.8GHz, 2008 model); MacBook (13", 2.0 GHz); Mac Mini HTPC (2.0 GHz 2009 model). Time Capsule (500 GB) connected to iMac via ethernet.

I am looking for an external storage drive (1TB-1.5TB) primarily for video and music. I plan to attach said drive to the network via the Time Capsule's USB port (although attaching directly to the Mac Mini is also an option because it would offer Firewire 800 - looking for opinions here). Time Capsule is already used to back up the three machines so the extra drive will be strictly for storage.

Most of the music files are/will be ripped as FLAC files from the iMac but played back via the Mini and the HTPC system. So what's the best set-up that will allow file transfer between the iMac and Mini easily (the MacBook doesn't figure into this)? And what are your recommendations for drives? Right now I have the Seagate FreeAgent Desk and the LaCie Quadra at the top of my list but it's hardly set in stone.

TIA,

Phil
