External superdrive doesn't work w\mcbook

I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro 13'' and I recently upgraded to 2 hard drives. 1 ssd and the other a standard hdd. I put my superdrive into an enclosure to use it as an external drive. It doesnt read at all. It works in all of my other computers but not this one. I purchased another superdrive from the apple store and it doesn't work. the only action it gives is when I hold the track pad while restarting. it actually ejects the disc.

Any thoughts? thanks
