I just pulled a 2 TB HDD that was connected via USB to my imac out of the WD external HDD inclosure. I poped it into my new mac pro and when I booted it said the drive was unreadable. any recommendations? also I transferred everything from the iMac via time machine. I have alot of home pictures/movies on this drive; formatting is not an option.

Could you please be more descriptive??? Like did you even Install the OS on the HDD??? Did you format the drive into Mac OS Extended (Journaled)? Is there any other backups???

Why would you even put your backup drive into your mac as a main drive anyways. Backups should stay backups.

it sounds like your external disk was just the time machine disk.
The time machine disk is NOT bootable!
You need to take the disk out, put it in the external enclosure and put your original disk back into the iMac.
