Hi,

long version: I have had my USB cam working for a week with the free version of iChat USB Cam. Prior to installing the demo of iChat USB Cam I had installed the maccam.component plugin into Library/Quicktime in hope of a more permanent solution. I then installed iGlasses to play around with the image quality. The camera was working flawlessly, however when the trial period ran out I got my hands on a full version copy of iChat USB Cam. Now whenever I run iChat it goes through the usual routine where I get the window that says "detecting usb cameras" and when I attempt to check the video status in iChat's preferences it tells me "Your camera is in use by another application."

SHORT VERSION: I have a QuickCam® Express on an iBook G4, and when iChat and Finder are the only applications open iChat tells me that the camera is being used by another app.

Also, I am able to get a picture through the webcam using MacCam.app, which makes me think the the MacCam Plugin is somehow the application that is using the camera. When I try loading iChat without the plugin, it does not detect the camera.

If anyone could help me i would highly appreciate it.
