Hello, I'm planning to buy an external USB DVD for my macbook (A1181). My DVD rom broke so I'm wondering if it's possible to use an external USB DVD instead of getting it fixed? I have a feeling it will cost a lot more if I get it fixed or bring it to a repairer. I found some around but they only state "macbook air/pro" so I'm not sure if they'll work on my macbook unibody white 13". Please help, thanks!

I'm wondering if any of these would work: Ex1, Ex2, Ex3

And another question, I currently have Leopard 10.5.8 and am planning to upgrade it to 10.6. Of course, I need the DVD and install it. However, will it work on these external DVD? Will I have any problem? Please help, thank you so much!!

I have the LG slim drive external dvd drive and it works GREAT.And yes if you have the snow leopard dvd you can put it in the external drive and boot from/and install snow leopard on your computer. There are a lot of external drives out there but the lg one I have is the only one thats held up so its the only one I can recommend.Good luck!
