I'm looking for an external USB dvd writer for my 2012 imac.

Its for the odd occasion I need to install something from a CD, a game or burn a music CD for the wife.

Can you use any old cheap one off ebay and it wil work straight away?

Yes you can. Any USB device will work. 8 quid can't go wrong
