Just replaced the original SSD drive with a Sabrent 512GB NVMe, using the simtech short adapter version.
I prepared a bootable Catalina before replacing the drive into a USB memory stick.

When booting (MBA early 2015 13") the drive does not show up. I turned it on and keep holding the option key and the only option is internet recovery and also to choose a WIFI.

I removed the simtech adapter and the Sabrent drive, re-inserted them very securely until I hear the click that is in place.

Thought??

Plugged the USB memory stick to the other USB port on the left side of laptop and that seems to be now working.
