External usb2 dvd recorder

I want to buy an external usb2 dvd recorder.
Do I have to buy something special in order not to have any problems to use it with mac, or I can choose the one I want without thinking about compatibility problems?
Will I connect it and be ready to burn? Is there any need of drivers or related stuff?

2. No, unless a DVD medium (empty or not) is inserted into the drive. It behaves exactly the same like the internal disc drive of your Mac.
