Hi all,

I am soon going to be moving onto a narrowboat (google it) and while I will be using my trusty iPhone for mobile data most of the time it would be nice to have an alternative so to not rack up insane data charges by leaching off nearby cafes while I am cruising. As such I was wondering if anyone has any experience or recommendations for hi gain wifi antennas that i can plug into my mac?

Is there anything anyone else might be able to suggest as an alternative?

Thanks in advance,

Jen

There are devices like the RogueWave and WifiRanger that use an external antenna and provide a private wifi network inside the boat. Handy if you want to use multiple devices with a single connection. I use an Alfa R36 router with sub access point in my RV. It is coupled to a yagi antenna outside. I can receive wifi signals up to ½ mile away.

Thanks for those suggestions, I'll look into those!
