In ios5 if you slid an icon on the homescreen to go into an app, the app screen appeared instantly.

Now in ios6, it does the usual zoom in animation.

Why does Apple insist on animating everything. Just pop up the damn screen.
 
how dare they try to make something visually appealing as well as functional! damn them!
 
I like it. Also, is there a new animation when the Apple logo disappears and the lock screen appears (when you restart the phone)? I thought i caught a glimpse of it when I restarted my phone.

I've only seen that happen a few times for some reason.
