I have a jpeg file that I want to extract text from. Is there anyway to do that without transcribing it? I found some applications for windows, but their reviews are pretty crappy too...

There is no text in a JPEG. There can be only a raster image of text. You can, however, use optical character recognition (OCR) software to read and convert the text in the image into an editable format. OCR can be highly accurate, but it will not be perfect. You will have to manually correct any recognition errors.

Do you know any Mac OCR software?

I used OmniPage and it worked well for me. I think it was free because I rarely pay for software. I can't seem to get the link to work, but if you do a search, I'm sure it will come up.

Thanks, but OmniPage is pretty expensive haha, its $500...
