Hello. I'm just wondering if any of you know how I can extract a clip from a .MKV movie file in VLC player?? I've tried various option an none so far have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

VLC's track extracting / remuxing / reconverting capabilities leave a lot to be desired. I don't recommend using it.

The workflow you should need to do:

- remux with Subler to mp4 / m4v / mov

- edit / trim the resulting and (unlike MKV - hence the need for a MKV->mp4 conversion) already-compatible footage with any mp4 / m4v / mov editor: QuickTime 7 Pro, avidemux etc.

Does Quicktime not support MKV files?? And how good is Avidemux?? Why do I need an app like Subler first? Is there not one app that would do all of it without being too expensive like Final Cut?
