I just bought a new iMac (21", 3.06 ghz duocore) and while I've been really stoked about it on the whole, I've had a serious issue with it in Windows. On my old MacBook (13" 2.16 ghz duocore, 1 GB ram had upgraded to Snow Leopard) I had XP installed with bootcamp and it was perfect, but on the new one, while the sound functions perfectly the microphone is totally screwed.
When I speak into the onboard mic I pretty much sound like Darth Vader. Only more distorted and therefore more difficult to understand. I just got this thing home a few days ago and the only reason I even install Windows is so that I can play DDO, which of course sucks a lot more if you don't have a functional mic.
Also: all the audio works perfectly in OSX. It is just in windows that I get a severe mic distortion (and have no other problems with sound). Anyone know what the hell I can do about this?\
I solved this issue by using this: http://www.stuffedcow.net/macbook_audio -- Fascinating that a geek on a forum could fix this, but Apple refuses to.
