So I've been having some problems regarding syncing/updates etc on my mbp. In December it started taking ridiculous amounts of time to sync my ipod. I have less than 5gigs to sync, and all of a sudden it started taking all night to update. Not only that - it beachballs if I try to open anything. I can usuallly get 2-3 clicks in before i get stuck in whatever window is on my screen.

I thought this was just an itunes problem and tried to erase and redownload that program but the problem is still there. After a while I found that even though the screen was frozen - if I left it overnight eventually it would unfreeze and finish syncing........after h o u r s. I just tried to do a software update tonight [quicktime + itunes] and the same kind of thing happened.

Download times are still fast - it's just what seems to be update/installing things. In itunes the songs update fast - it's the syncing that is painfully slow. When I tried downloading the updates - it got through that fast and came to halt when it said it was "installing". I haven't noticed anything else being sluggish like the internet or running other programs.

I don't know what the problem is. I've downloaded/installed programs like handbrake and there isn't this kind of slow-down. I don't know what to do.

I've mentioned this to some and I've been told to reset my pram, and to hold apple+option+p+r when restarting and none of those have seemed to make any difference. If anyone knows why this is happening or how to help, please let me know. Or maybe this isn't uncommon? I don't know. I only got this machine back in august - and I still have lots of free space, and I really haven't downloaded anything ridiculous that i can think of that may have had some kind of malware in it.
