Okay, so I copy things from a CD and half-way it freezes. It stops copying all of a sudden and just freezes. It's really frustrating and i don't understand what the problem is. I've fixed permissions I've upgraded the OS. It just doesn't like copying large amounts of files. I have to restart the finder to stop it. FRUSTRATING! I can't stop it always with force Quit.

Can someone please help me? I'm still fairly new to the mac.

I'm running on a G4, 300mhz. Is it a hardware thing?

FYI, this happens when I copy from an SD card too, or an ipod... please help! It's driving me crazy.!!!

By freezing, you mean it beach balls? What are you attempting to copy?

Yes, it beach balls. I mean I can work in other programs, but it beach balls the copy process and stops copying.

I'm trying to copy my music from my work computer which I had laboriously ripped from my CDs. I can't re-rip the CDs, as they were stolen.

There's a tonne of files.

I've also tried to copy via a SD Card Reader. Similar thing.

my work computer is a PC.
