Recently my *big* 85W power brick for MBP has been unusually hot (not touchable) when plugged in at all times even when it's not charging. I'm afraid the plastic will melt or it will ignite fire. Do you think this is a problem and should I get it fixed/replaced?

My MBP is 7 month old and I also have AppleCare. I have never made an AppleCare claim before and wonder whether I will have to send the charger away (I am at uni and *NEED* the charger)?

P.S. there is no Apple Store near me

Call them--you may be able to get them to send you a replacement first so that you will never be without a power cord. Once you receive that, you'll send your malfunctioning one out.
