Well, this is hard to believe. But my imac has the memory installed with the prongs facing to the "Right!
I was installing some Crucial Ram two, two gig sticks into yet another 20" imac for my wife's office(I have a 24' 09 for work and a 20' for my home office).
I noticed when I pulled out the Apple ram(which was micron, like the crucial ram). that the prongs were faced to the right, and the memory modules were facing the same side as the screen which was face down. .The Micron stickers were face up?
I noticed this right away. So I put in the ram thinking that this new 09 imac might be different. I tried first gently putting them in with the prongs to the left with the micron sticker face down, then a little harder with some force. No go.
With the prongs facing to the right, they slid right in with a "click'?
What the hell is going on here?
It runs perfectly. But my curiosity got the best of me so I decided to power down the machine once again.
I took out the memory I just installed, and yep sure enough I was not crazy, the prongs were to the right, and the die's were face down with the micron sticker facing up. Totally backward from my previous 20 and contrary to what the instructions say to install your ram.
I am worried that I damaged my machine and the memory by taking them out and pushing them in again. But it seems to work fine.
Any one else experience this. And even though it runs fine and says 4GB DDR3 in the info tab, should I take it in to get checked? Or just leave it be, I am worried that the computer might have some complicatons. And that the memory is damaged from installing and reinstalling.
Any help would be appreciated.
