Since I have switched from my iPhone se3 and went to a galaxy A55 I am getting serious eye strain and headaches so I think I am sensitive to the PWM issues already discussed in these forums which I have read over the past few days. These symptoms don’t happen when I am using the iPad 10 which is not OLED.
Short of switching back to the little iPhone which has an LCD screen is there anything I can do?

not much I can recommend for the a55, but the nothing 3a has a pwr rate (not 100% sure that's the right term) of 2100ish hz according to a zdnet review I saw yesterday, whereas iPhones for example are at 242hz, as is the a55. The higher the number the better it is for your eyes. PWM is essentially flickering that oled screens use to reduce brightness. 2100 hz is apparantly unnoticeable to the human eye.

Nothing is very good. As mentioned above, DC-like dimming above 50% brightness and 2,160Hz PWM dimming below that. Much higher than any of the competition.

Motorola's pOLED is also worth trying for their flicker-reduction tech. Apparently their phones have gotten pretty great in the last couple years, but I have not had a chance to try one in ages.

With LCD phones going extinct, the only other alternative is to always run the phone at 100% brightness to avoid giving it the chance to flicker.

Well it just too much for me as I can’t be doing with these headaches and ey strain so I have put my sim in to my little iPhone se3.

Another thing that has really annoyed me is the lack of the update to the latest Oneui.

Eyestrain can be caused by a number of factors and so can headaches.

It is very possible that the OLED screen is causing your issues as much as it is not. There is no way to know for sure unless you went to an eye doctor and had some tests. It is easy to say that causation by replacing a phone screen with another is causing your issue and that might be my first inclination as well. I am not disagreeing with your take on OLED vs LCD but I think you may want to get more understanding to make sure.

Since all modern phones except very low budget models come with OLED screens I think it is worth digging a little deeper otherwise you will be relegated to your older iPhone or budget Android phones which I don't think is a viable option.

As others have said different phones have different PWM dimming and that can be a cause of eyestrain so it would be worth trying a new iPhone or other Android phones to see if they all affect you the same way. In combination with getting your eyes checked to make sure something else isn't at play. Otherwise you are sort of just guessing and have no real information in order for you to take any substantive action to resolve your problem.
