I am buying a new Macbook and I am trying to decide what video capture device to buy. I am looking at the EyeTV 250 or the Canopus ADVC-110. I will mostly be using it to convert old VHS and VHS-C and recording content off of my Dish Network DVR. Any advice would be appreciated.

the eyetv

hi there,

i think both boxes are very similar in terms of their capturing ability.

if you don't need auto correction tools like the advc-300 has, i would then buy the eyetv as it does have the tv programming information which would be phenomenal for recording tv. the advc products don't have this feature as I gather.

cheers,
keebler

best semi-pro solution?

I am considering the same choice. I'm thinking about setting up a semi-professional VHS to DVD conversion service so quality is more important than TV programming features.
I will be connecting it to an intel iMac.

Again any advice from people with experience converting large numbers of VHS tapes would be very welcome!
