Now I already have a DTT EyeTV tuner and EyeTV software. I use it occasionally with my Macbook.

I plan on purchasing the higher end Mac Mini in January to use a a media centre (/front end).

My questions are..

1. Will the Mini run dual picture EyeTV software. The FAQ on elgato's site states it needs 64mb VRAM - which the mini has I believe?

2. What are the 'equivilant' windows models of the EyeTV tuners. I'm partcularly interested in the EyeTV Diversity and the EyeTV Hybrid. I understand they are basically re-badged Terretec or Happauge products? I don't see the need to pay a premium for the software when I've already got it!

I'd be grateful for any help

Thanks

J

The EyeTV Hybrid is also known as the Hauppauge HVR-900, which you can get from PCWorld for about £60, which I would advise as you save about £35-40 over the price of the Hybrid for software that you already have.

The accompanying telescopic stick aerial from Hauppauge is a tad better than that bundled with the Elgato. You can either install it as the HVR-900 using the EyeTV software or as the Hybrid. It is up to you, and the same drivers are loaded anyway. It also works with the Apple IR remote.

Alternatively, you can download the Hauppauge drivers and software to use with your Elgato Hybrid under Windows, if you want.
The HVR-900 is also bundled with a €20 discount voucher off the price of the Elgato EyeTV software "for Mac users"; however, this is currently on sale at the same discount, anyway (€60 instead of €80) at Elgato's website.

Terratec were demoing their version of the Diversity USB stick at MacExpo. I think it will retail for about the same as Elgato's version.

Thanks for the info.

I found the diversity...and will probably get the 'mac version' - so I can run EyeTV on both macbook and mini.

I also found the Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS - which is supported by EyeTV. Think I'll use that over the Happauge one.

Thanks again
