EyeTV Hybrid HELP!

In a previous discussion I was trying to decide what TV Tuner is right for me.

I have decided on the eyeTV hybrid and now have a few questions on it.

1. I have a set top box (Virgin Cable Box), that i intend to connect to the tuner so I can watch all of them channels on my mac. Can i still record these onto my mac even though it isnt coming from its own tuner?

2. Can I watch my set top box and record the tuner?

3. I have read some bad reviews about the hybrid saying the connection is not great. What is the problem with it?
