Hi

I have been trying to find the answers a few questions I have about software solutions available for the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212. I bought the PVR but I am not sure which of the software packages (EyeTV 3.0 or HDPVRCapture) will do all that I need it to do.

1 - Can I stream and watch live TV on my mac with either or both of these applications?
2 - I know EyeTV has an iphone app, so can I use this app to access the shows recorded on my mac (I believe I can but I would need the Eyetv desktop software)?
3 - Can I use the EyeTV iphone app along with the HDPVRCapture software?
4 - Does anyone know if HDPVRCapture has a similar iPhone app?

Thanks

I havent been able to get the HD PVR to work correctly with eye tv, so im just using HDPVRCapture. You can record with this application, but cant watch live.

If your having problems getting it to work with eye tv, try updating the HD PVR firmware (has to be done on windows)

I wasn't sure if the questions from this thread have been answered already, but I just wanted to chime in on the topic. I recently hooked up my Mac Mini HTPC setup and have the EyeTV software, HDPVRCapture demo and Hauppauge HD PVR.

01. Yes you can stream live TV on your Mac for EyeTV. I'm currently running v3.3 and it works great. My HD PVR is running firmware v1.1. As far as streaming live TV on the HDPVRCapture, apparently the only way to watch is if you're recording, then VLC player pops up with the feed.

02. There are two apps (web and iPhone) that streams your recordings or live TV to your phone, so yes you do need EyeTV software to use these apps.

03. No and yes. I say yes because you can record on HDPVRCapture then store them in your EyeTV recordings and watch them from there. No, only because there's no live streaming available.

04. I don't believe they have an iPhone app. I can see where it can be useful to set recordings, but the big thing is setting up a remote that allows you the change the channel remotely, because you can only record whatever channel the STB is on. This goes for both EyeTV and HDPVRCapture.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your response! You have answered all my questions. I may ask you more in the future ;)

Thanks, again!
