Caught this over at 9to5Mac today:

You can now install popular automatic screen brightness app Flux on iPhone and iPad
Benjamin Mayo - 12 hours ago

With iOS 9, it is now possible to install screen brightness app Flux (or f.lux). Flux adjusts screen brightness and color depending on the time of day automatically, so you aren’t blasted with bright light at bedtime or early in the morning. Due to App Store restrictions, Flux has been only available on the Mac OS X platform until now. Whilst it isn’t available through the App Store, you can now download and install the Flux beta for iPhone and iPad by sideloading the app through Xcode on the Mac.

Full instructions are at the site (not including them here for obvious reasons).

Anyone try this yet? I'm tempted to on my 6s, as the worst that will happen is I brick the phone, and just have to restore/set up as new & restore. Lately, f.lux has been my only reason to jailbreak, as I can live with the SSH clients I have.

BL.

I did it and it's working great, word of advice: do not enable notifications, it send hundreds of them a day.

thats because thats part of how it can work to adjust the conditions for it w.out running constantly

Yeah, it's a shame Apple killed it. I was able to get the file before they took it off. I'm sure you can get it elsewhere, but you'll be taking a chance with it now. There is another app called Gamma Thingy that is similar and you can use xcode to load it to your phone. Also, Kodi can now be installed the same way without a jailbreak. Over on the kodi forums, there is a tutorial on how to install using xcode. It works.

Thanks! Looks neat, I'll give it a shot over the weekend. Have you tried Gamma Thingy - does it work well?

It's pretty good, but sometimes you have to manually turn it on. Flux is better at automation.

I haven't tried it yet, but there is another one called Goodnight. Not sure where to get it, but I want to try that out too. Maybe this weekend I'll give that one a try.

Does anyone know if the f.lux app is still available via "other" means? (I want to jailbreak but I'm on 9.1 and don't want to downgrade)

Someone needs to give you a copy of the project or just find the project on google, I bet there are hundreds of duplicates in the wild or use a similar app that can be side loaded which I think there are a few clones (IDK the names ATM). Goggle is your friend.

Anyone still have a copy of the .zip?
many, but you need to be friends or a person that doesn't care.

IMO though, if you can't find a copy yourself then I bet you won't know what to do inside Xcode to side loaded. GL

What makes you think you can downgrade if you wanted to?

Apple is not signing anything but 9.1. There is NO downgrade. You're stuck on iOS 9.1 until 9.1 is jailbroken even if you did want to downgrade.

I side loaded this at the weekend. Very straight forward (especially having practiced on a few aTV4 apps) and quick process and works perfectly. Can't see why Apple won't allow this through the App Store as it really is an essential app.

Because it uses private APIs and since it's system wide it's not sandboxed.

Apple doesn't allow apps like that in the app store.

I had my reasons for that answer to the specific member. If you don't like it then don't waste a post yourself. Your reply contribute even less than mine.

Seems like your reason was to belittle someone else. By all means, keep doing so... I'm not the one who looks bad here.

Let's hope Apple's implementation of this is better than their implementation of Quick Reply for Messages.
Well, their implementation of Quick Reply works, just doesn't offer much beyond what it does basically. In this case there's less to offer as far as features (basically enabling/disabling, manual control, and schedule control), so hopefully most of everything will be offered and working as expected.
