F1 and F2 keys not working on MBP (2 months old)

I am not able to alter the brightness by using the keyboard on this 2 month old unibody macbook pro 15 in 2.8Ghz 500Gb

I tried restarting with command+option+p+r+power button as suggested by tech support guyz

Is this a common problem? Does this mean something seriously wrong with my MBP?
