Silly question but does the X recognize you with different eyeglasses? I have multiple ones I switch between and am considering switching to the X type phone this fall.

Thanks in advance to those that respond.

I have seen posts both ways. May depend on coating or how dark they are.

It always recognizes me with my prescription glasses and my Cocoon sunglasses. The cocoons are heavy and have side shields. Good for people with cataracts. They are a medium, dark brown plastic eye piece.

Yes it does. It's looking at your face, not the glasses specifically. The number of facial data points far outweighs the number of eyeglass data points.

I have not had a problem with either regular glasses or polarized sunglasses.

There does seem to be a problem with “some” polarized glasses, but I think most work.

Referencing sunglasses, Polarization isn’t the issue with sunglasses, its due to the lens being opaque due to some lenses coatings block IR, which lens have a different amount of infrared filtration.

I was recently on Vacation this past week and I wore dark sunglasses. I could not, at anytime get FaceID to recognize me with my sunglasses. No polarization at all. And no matter how many times i entered my password, my X would not unlock via faceID. So much for learning. So needless to say, I was HATING faceID this past week.

I use Face ID regularly with 3 different pairs of regular eyeglasses and 2 different pairs of sunglasses. While I do have some Face ID issues now and again, I don't believe any of them can be attributed to switching up my glasses.

This is incorrect. Again, polarization has *nothing* to do with Face ID. That’s a myth. It has everything to do with the lens being opaque blocking the IR, which lens have different of amounts of infrared filtration. See post #5 with article linked.

I use glasses daily and have very few issues with Face ID.
Works with my prescription sunglasses too.

I wear contacts and glasses daily as well. And I don't find these interfere with FaceID either. Actually my success rate has actually improved. Although I was hating FaceID this past week due to my dark sunglasses, I guess it's not any different than my finger being wet for TouchID :)
