Facebook app does not update how many "likes" an entry has

When one of my FB-friends updates his status or posts a picture, I can see that it has maybe 1 "like". But if I tap on the friend's name, and view their timeline, I can see that the post in fact has, say, 23 "likes".

How come that doesn't update in the news feed? Is it a known problem? Is there a quick fix?

Yes, I have updated to the latest FB-app on my iPhone 4.

Personally I think the new Facebook app has been pushed out for the speed increases but other factors have been rushed a little. as well as the "likes" problem i've noticed notifications don't work if someone comments on a photo i've shared to my news feed - yet notifications do seem to work for most other things. It definitatly need another update with some tweaks for us facebookers that still use it frequently, i realise not everyone does but some of us do.
