I restored my 6 from backup and had an older version of the Facebook app so that when a Jailbreak becomes available I will still be able to use the tweak that allows you to use the old style built in messenger. The news feed, however takes significantly longer to load than it did on my 4S. Why is this?

It's not optimized for the 6. In fact, there's no indication it has even been updated for iOS 8. I'd say both are likely reasons.

On my phone, the Facebook app lagged quite a bit with iOS 8.0, not so much with iOS 8.0.2. The app has been updated at least twice since iOS 8 was released, so there have been iterative changes from both ends. But, even with iOS 6 and 7, Facebook has always been one of laggier apps.

Also, you can speed up the Facebook app quite a bit by simply turning off the video auto-play (in the iOS settings), which the iOS 8 update apparently reenabled.

Yeah, I have auto play off. I can't update Facebook though bc then when the jailbreak gets released I wont be able to use the tweak that enables you to use the old built in messsnger.

On iOS 8.1 the fb app is super fast. And so is twitter. If you can load it b/c i highly recommend using it over iOS 8.0.

Seems about the same as it was (after the recent couple of updates at least) on my 5 (with 8.0 and now 8.1 beta).

They released info on there Facebook blog about the iPhone 6 and 6+ and iOS 8.

http://newsroom.fb.com/news/2014/09/updates-to-facebook-for-ios-8/

In the paragraph is says this:
'These updates will be available over the coming weeks.'

So an update should be hitting the app store any day now as that article was posted in September.

they do updates every 4 weeks so im guessing if this version with optimized iphone 6 and 6 plus is coming in the next update should be by mid october.

The Facebook iOS app is notoriously awful. This is no surprise.

Yeah I've learned to accept it somewhat that it will always be buggy, but the one thing I really have no patience for is the forced removal of the built in messenger.

Yep. Forced Messenger app. Delayed display of notifications, although that might just be happening to me. And the biggest gripe of all, the ridiculous stupid way they force us to see what they think we want to see, i.e Top Stories instead of a simple always-on way for us to see our News Feed in chronological order. I've resorted to using Safari for Facebook and now that I've gotten used to it I barely notice the difference other than that it's better than the app.

Exactly. Does it also bother you that the news feed doesn't hold your place and you have to scroll backwards?
