The Facebook app was updated last night. Added support for viewing video and a few other features. And bugfixes.
Facebook isn't the sort of app that needs an app designed for the iPad... just go to the site.
I thought I read somewhere that iOS 4.0 had some code in it that point towards FB integration. Not sure where I read it, or the details but I'm pretty sure I saw it somewhere. I was hoping nothing would come of it. The last thing I want is for my iPhone to, forever be linked to facebook somehow.

You posted a link to a website that showed possible facebook integration. That article was posted in April, which is before iPhone 4 was even announced. Sure, there may have been plans for it, but everything up until the official announcement is pure speculation and rumors.

If they'd sort out FB chat on the iPad site that wouldn't be such a problem.

"Just [going] to the site" works well till one wants to share media like, I don't know, pics imported to the iPad with the camera kit. The iPhone app on the iPad works well for this purpose with the bonus of looking ugly as sin in 2x.
If FB updated their app as often as they change their privacy features & policies we'd be in good shape.
I just now updated the facebook app on my phone, launched it, and it crashed right away. Nice.
You can facebook chat with beeJive, it works very well.
I don't really think we need FB integration. I'm sure I would use it, but- the app works well enough most of the time. I actually find the notifications pretty annoying a lot of the time. It's like the app sends me a notification 2 seconds before the email shows up. Beep... BEEP!
