Facebook Messenger today was updated to version 79.0, bringing with it the debut of new Peek and Pop gestures within the messaging client. On the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, users will now be able to try out the pressure sensitive abilities of 3D Touch to more easily navigate through the app.

Within each conversation thread, 3D Touch allows for quick previews of any links or contacts posted within a message.

The company also noted that throughout the app, Peek and Pop will be available to "preview contacts, conversations, photos, videos, stickers, links and locations."

Facebook Messenger previously added 3D Touch support on its app icon with a few Quick Actions that present options to jump into recent chats, start a new message, or generate your personal messenger code to add a friend on the service.

Anyone who wants to check out the new 3D Touch features of Facebook Messenger can download the app for free from the App Store. [Direct Link]

I always forget to use Force Touch because it just never seemeduseful when I tried it out.

Also, I'm not reminded to use it by iOS. I get why some people wouldn't want notifications of it of course, but the option would be nice instead of one-off tips.

This seems like a promising feature, but Apple needs to push this harder with 3rd party publishers.

So if you don't have a device with 3d touch, its useless..
If you don't have Facebook it's useless.
If you don't have an iPhone it's useless.
If you don't have anything it's useless.
If you're so negative it's useless.
Your comment is useless.

i use it mainly when typing to adjust the input pointer.

The iPhone will ship with a 1tb ssd and charge wirelessly from the universe's cosmic rays before the actual Facebook app is optimized for any remotely modern Apple product.

Web browser... It's the only way to Facebook.

As if they needed to add another feature to this poorly optimized app. I already uninstalled it to make room for Pokemon go. The Battery only goes so far on these 6s phones.
