So the update came out for the Facebook Messenger app. If you choose to NOT have notifications on as a banner, it will launch this annoying screen every time you open the app. Am I missing something, or is there a way to get rid of this screen without the need to turn on the notifications?

Agreed

This popping up more than once is obnoxious and unnecessary. Is there a way around this or do we have to put up with it till an update comes out to disable it?

Have you found a workaround?

Nope, I'm not getting that screen popping up every time I go into Messenger now but it's still popping up a hell of a lot.

You are correct. I spoke too soon. It's not EVERY time, but a lot. This is VERY annoying.

does fb messenger get the message notification or does the facebook app and messenger get it

No more annoying screen

I went to the Messenger App on Home screen itself, launched, then went back to Facebook app, switched to Messenger with the icon at the bottom...no more popup. Hope this helps.
