When I went to the Genius Bar for a battery replacement, they said my FaceID has failed, but I show the tech on the spot that my FaceID was working absolutely fine and ridiculous that their piece of software says it has failed. What gives here?

Is apple trying to sell me a new 13 PM?

Or maybe just human error? How did the story end?

They replaced the battery in the end when I showed them it worked just fine during the setup, but told me the FaceID may fail during the battery service. Got back my phone just fine. This makes me worry about future FaceID phone purchases if it gives wrong results like this.

What phone do you have?

Works in the store but maybe not in extreme cases like bright lit surroundings (sun in the back). The 13 Pro Max is sold out at all retail locations so they couldn’t sell you anything even if they wanted to.
