So since upgrading my 15 Pro to iOS 26 I noticed that my iPhone doesn’t unlock with FaceID upon a first try which is not how it was prior to upgrading to iOS 26. Do any of you notice the same thing? Any resolution to this? I tried resetting Face ID and doing a new face scan but the issue persists. And I have require attention disabled so that’s not the issue either.

To sum it up in other words, I need to really aim the phone and stare into my iPhone for it to unlock in most cases throughout the day which is super annoying and when it fails recognizing at first try I then need to enter my password manually to unlock

15 Pro Max here and it’s still as efficient as ever. I can hold the phone near my side and at an angle to my face and it still works first time.

Have you tried to rescan your face?

I had this problem on my spare iPhone during the betas. When I updated my main iPhone and iPad from 18 to 26.0, I had the same problem on those, but not nearly as bad. Today, all three devices are working fine, and I never did reset my Face ID. I've noticed it was getting better as time went on. Supposedly, it continuously learns your face each time you use it, but not sure if that has anything to do with it. FWIW, I have Require Attention enabled.

How long ago did you upgrade?
