I've been testing various VOIP alternatives to Skype. Oddly enough, none of the others we tried Facetime audio, Google Voice (via Hangouts), and Wire seems to have controllable volume in iOS when I'm wearing headphones. I can move the slider all the way to the left or click the volume buttons, and they both do nothing. 
This is frustrating because I notice Facetime audio quality is pretty great and realistic-sounding. Is this an acknowledged issue or is there a decent workaround/fix? I have seen others post of this problem before but haven't found a conclusive answer.
This does not seem to be limited to a specific model of iPad, it happens on at least an iPad mini 2 and iPad 3.
