FaceTime 'call failed'

If I plug in my external webcam, every time a person I'm ringing accepts the call, their video flashes for half a second then the call fails. This wasn't an issues in Sierra. Anyone know of a workaround?

The webcam is a Logitech C525 with a mid-2014 15" MBP.

The problem doesn't occur if I restart the Mac with the webcam already connected.

it sounds like a driver issue.

unfortunately there are no drivers for macOS that you can download from logitech.
either send logitech a mail or wait for apple to hopefully fix it.
