FaceTime freezing when on a different desktop?

Why does this happen? I have realised this is how it's supposed to work; but why? It's very annoying as I like to use my Mac with all my apps fullscreen, but this ruins FaceTime's purpose as I want to be able to browse the web while video chatting. :confused:
