FaceTime now working even if opted out of SMS?

So I just noticed that I can now "FaceTime" others even though I am opt out from SMS/MMS. Under the phone settings I no longer have "Waiting for Activation" either.

I'm guessing they someone how provisioned the "FaceTime" SMS to go through much like AT&T's own messages.

Anyone else seeing the same results?

This was my understanding. I wouldn't work for me/others until now.

Are you opted out of receiving SMS? Or just using "pay per message"? I'm talking about being opt out. I have changed the title to reflect this.
