I recently upgraded an early-2011 MacBook Pro with an SSD and 16 gigs of RAM. FaceTime is unbearably slow. Specifically, my video and audio are out of sync. Is it a lost cause due to the age of the machine or am I doing something wrong? I am running High Sierra. For what it's worth, the machine otherwise seems to be working well.

Update:
I was able to fix it! Despite the fact that the machine in question was constant plugged in, it seems that it was being throttled due to a faulty battery. It has since been replaced and is working well.
