is it possible to use facetime and use ONLY your email address and NOT your cell ph#?? I want to use facetime w/ someone but not give out my cell ph#.

As of now, no. When iOS5 is released you'll be able to have that option. I'll upload a screen shot in a minute.
 
Here is the screen shot. Sorry if it doesn't look too good because i had to cover my email and phone number. Under settings you go to FaceTime and then at the bottom it says Caller ID and when you click on it you can choose between a email address or your phone number. Hope this helps. Also, this feature is only available in iOS 5.

i noticed that yesterday, when my GF facetimed my iPad (via 'calling' my email address), my iPhone 4 (iOS 5 beta) rang aswell.

must have inadvertently activated the email address on the phone aswell

im confused. You can facetime with people with iPod touches who only have an e-mail address... I do it with my friends all the time. Why would this not work the other way around?
