I have the beta version, do I need to download the official app now or can I use the beta still? What's the point I mean?

Anyway, the beta is not the finished version and the finished version normally has less bugs than the beta version, as the beta version is normally to get feedback about bugs.
But if you haven't encountered bugs and don't want to spend 79 cents on the final version of FaceTime, just use the beta.

The beta version still works, but it is buggy when logging in, can crash often, and the contacts window will become stuck half off the screen.

If you can handle the bugs, save your buck.
