hi i have two friends and i like using facetime with them ...both of them i only have their contact number but why is it so i can facetime with one of them but while the other i need to add their apple id than i can face time ...

Because that person has not activated facetime on his number ... under settings-> facetime ,,, his number will not be having a check mark ... he should tick it for activation
