Factory unlocked iphone4 user in the US

Anyone here (in the US) owns a factory unlocked phone? I'm asking my Canadian friend to buy one for me. Are there any problems you have when using it with T-Mobile or other carriers?

I'm actually an ATT subscriber, but I won't be staying the US for long, so I'm gonna need the factory unlocked kind. I do not wish to cut up my SIM card... Do you think I can just go to the apple store and ask them to switch it to a micro-sim card?

If you're with AT&T you can go to an AT&T store and have them copy your sim over to a microsim.

The best deal is the O2 SIM card at Buy More, I mean Best Buy. It's isn't a micro, but you can cut it easy enough. I'm in the same boat, I work all over and travel, I have a little case with several sim cards in it; vietnam, thailand, cambodia, philippines...I just pop a new one in and I'm set.
