i have a ATT iphone 4 on iOS5, its jailbroken and unlocked via jailbreak.

i just purchased an unlock through swiftunlocks.

any instructions on how to do it correctly? im scared that ill do all of this and ill end up with a locked phone that i cant use.

someone people help!

Once they contact you that the phone has been unlocked you just sync it to itunes and you should get a message saying your phone is now unlocked. That's it.

You will never get stuck with a locked iphone once you do an IMEI unlock. The particular phone will be forever unlocked.
Now if you restore you'd be stuck without a JB so its up to you.

yea but it says all this restore stuff

i dont care for the jailbreak

i dont wanna lose my information, texts, photos, etc

but it says you have to be updated? im on iOS5

i wanna be on the latest. it says you have to update. so im guessing i update then it should be activated?

thats why im asking because im confused with all this, would be easier if someone who has done it can help

Yes, if you click restore then it will restore and update it to the latest firmware version. If you click update your phone will get stuck on the apple logo because its JB. That's why I said don't hit update on iTunes. Make sure you hit restore.
It will then activate with any gsm sim and everything will work fine once you got the message that the unlock from swiftunlocks went through.

after all that is done, how will i make sure it will not sync and erase my backed up information?

after thats done would all i need to do was click restore backup?

After it's done restoring, just choose the backup you just created.

uh i did the restore then it finished...

when itunes recognized it said it was in recovery mode and i had to click restore again...
