I've had my classic MBP for maybe four months and I've noticed that the etchings that are next to the ports on the left side are fading.

The MagSafe icon is completely gone, the USB logo is almost gone, and the Line-in icon is starting to fade at the bottom. That didn't happen to my PBG4 in four years of use, what gives?

Check your classic MBP, are the port etchings intact?

I'm planning to keep my classic MBP for as long as possible as there is no way I'm dealing with the glass screen. One more question, if my MBP fails within the warranty period and Apple no longer has it in stock and they offer to replace it with a glassbook, can I refuse the downgrade and get my money back?

No read the fine print. They reserve the right to substitute.
