Fading in screen by spinning crown

I was messing with the haptic feedback from the crown on the new series 4 and I just found a neat little way to gradually dim the screen on my Apple Watch from off to full brightness I don’t know if this is a watchOS 5.0 feature, I have not payed attention but it can be done on the series 3 as well. Em I late to the game?

It was introduced with the Series 2 with the ‘dimming’ feature by turning the digital crown.
