Hi all, was looking for a bit of feedback from other users.

Macbook Air Mid 2013, within the past couple of months I upgraded to a WD SN550 NVMe SSD using a generic adapter. Upgrade went fine, clean installed macOS but now when trying to install an OS update it fails due to the SMART status of the drive.

I ran smartmontools and the output is below. The drive has had barely any use and was new, does this look like an early failure or is there a bug I am unaware of? I read that the SN550 was a good choice of drive based on capacity/performance/cost. It is already on the firmware that was supposed to fix some hibernation issues.

One thing I wondered was whether this drive had a "volatile memory backup solution", if it doesn't then it looks like this may be related to the problem and it could be firmware related or perhaps the adapter even.

I can RMA it but didn't want to do that if the replacement would do the same thing.

Thanks a lot
