Hey Maccers,

I have here a 1.6 GHZ power PC G5, little old but still works just fine.
However... my CD/DVD drive is failing on me. I can read CD's just fine but once I insert a DVD the drive does overtime and spits my dvd out after about a minute. The DVD's I tried were not copied and legal so I don't get the problem. If anyone has some solution to this problem or perhaps a hint, it would be most welcome.
Thanks

The optical reader LED is probably getting near the end of its life or the lens may be dirty. CDs require less power to read than DVDs. Try cleaning the lens first. If that doesn't work go here for pricing and do it yourself instructions on how to replace the drive.
