Hi everyone
I had tons of permissions problems with OSX 10.8 during 2012/2013, the problems went from permissions to endless "start up errors" like "Insecure Startup Item disabled----"blah blah blah has not been started because it does not have the proper security settings.".,
The worse got worse again and i had to do something about it because my start up drive behaved as if it was locked., so i salvaged data and took the advise from people and did a clean install of OSX 10.8 .
Then the worse got worse, my internal Hard drive partition with the OS started to fail, I migrated everything unto a external 1.5TB HD, while booting of this 1.5TB HD i learned that the problem i had with the seagate internal drive was common and apple had recalled these drives, i added my computer's serial number on the apple site and learned i was eligible for a replacement HD, however, after i arrived at the store i was told the recall expired after 3 years.
Then i purchased a ORICO 9528 USB 3 dual bay enclosure with raid that supports 2x 4TB,
I partitioned the first 4TB HD into 2 HDs, migrated my OS mavericks unto the first 1,5TB partition, it booted up fine for a month then suddenly it behaved exactly the same way as my failed internal drive., i looked all over the net and noticed many people claimed MAVERICK was responsible for damaging external Seagate HDS., i decided to return to 10.8. back unto the 2TB ext HD and try to mount my failed HD and migrate everything if possible.
While in a brand new user on a 1.5TB HD with Lion 10.8 i successfully migrated my older users, but as soon as i upgraded to osx 10.8.5 i could not log into any of my older user accounts, my passwords both for the user and iCloud failed., suddenly this 1.5TB HD (3rd drive now) started to fail., i immediately re installed OSX 10.8 and migrated all the data i could again, the old errors came back but this is where i am now.
I believe that there are 3 possible reasons this is happening,
1- OSX 10.8.5 and up seem to be iCloud based OS systems, maybe my iCloud is corrupted and causing issues,
2- MAVERICK kills external drives or servers as i read.
3- Maybe the first drive failing was normal since apple did recall them, and the problems i am having with my USB 3 drives are taking place because of USB 3 to USB 2 or because the OS simply can not handle 2x4= 8TB of ext hard drives
hope to solve this because its not stopping from what i see unless i accept to live with a OS as is and not installing anything., pointless to me
please advise
