I bought my 13" macbook pro in Nov of 2009, and in June of 2010 I replaced the hard drive with a 750GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue 5400rpm drive. It worked beautifully, but the past few weeks I've had lockups and freezing with multiple programs, and ran a utility to see if I had a failing hard drive. I do, with several bad sectors.
I'm just now reading about the hdapm tool that supposedly I should have installed after replacing the hard drive. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Would this have caused my hard drive to fail too young (after only 18 months of use), or would I have seen issues from the get go?
Regardless, I need to replace this drive, so would it be wise to get the same version and install hdapm or go with a different brand? I am looking for the same size, and under $200...
Help!
