Fair price for 24 inch CD?

So I'm heading to law school in the fall and I figured a Cinema Display would be a great compliment to my new 15' MBP. I found someone selling a 24' that he used only for a month and still has it in the box with the receipt. What is a good price? He wants $600. Is there anything superior in the new 27' inch? I plan on using this for school work and the easy hookup off magsafe/usb for external drives. Thanks.

You really should hit spellcheck more often. Especially if you're heading into law school...

$500-550 is the going price for them these days. $600 is on the higher end.
